[ They didn't force feed you McDonalds ]

I was out to lunch with my grandma when we hit on a popular topic that comes up whenever Grandma's around: weight, and losing it. My grandma weighed almost as much as 200 pounds, since then she's lost a lot of weight and looks really good for her age, but she needs to keep her weight under wraps for her blood pressure and other assorted health problems.

She mentioned something that I've been hearing about for a while, something that I share her opinion on. You know those idiots who try to sue McDonalds, the tobacco companies, the alcohol companies, et cetera, because those various products gave them health problems? Well, I'm not sure the Supreme Court or whoever's looking after these suings realizes this one simple fact: Nobody made them eat at McDonalds. Nobody made them smoke, and nobody made them drink.

Yet these idiots are suing these companies because they woke up one day with a fat belly or lung cancer or liver problems. They suddenly think that McDonalds is the one to blame because they ate ten friggin' Big Macs a day!

McDonalds, by general history, is a fast food joint. It serves greasy, fatty food that yes, if you eat too much of it, you'll get a bowl of jello for a stomach that Santa Claus would be proud of.

Tobacco, by general history, is an incredibly addictive drug that if smoked, yes, will give you lung cancer; and if chewed will give you mouth cancer.

Alcohol, by general history, is another incredibly addictive drug that can cause liver and heart problems the more you drink it.

So yes, all these things can give you serious and even life-threatening health issues.

But, do you know what? NO ONE MADE YOU USE THE PRODUCTS!!

No one tied you to a chair and forced McDonalds down your mouth. No one chained you to your bedpost and make you smoke a cigarette. No one tried to drown you in a pool of alcohol.

And even if they did, why the fuck are you suing the companies? Sue the sadistical, idiotic person who tried to make you take that stuff.

The only thing those companies are trying to do is sell their product. You see their ads on t.v., in newspapers and magazines, on billboards. If the companies do a good enough job to make you want to buy their product, then it's your own fault if you somehow become addicted.

You can't sue McDonalds or Winston or Budweiser because you became addicted to their products. It's not their fault that they did a good job of making you want to buy their stuff. Instead, you should've learned how to resist advertising and bought yourself something fat-free at the grocery store.

If you're fat with lung cancer and a fucked up liver because you couldn't resist advertising, it's no one's fault but your own.
